If you’ve been here a while, you know this newsletter has always been about one thing: helping published authors build profitable businesses that go beyond book sales. Now there’s a name that matches the mission.

But Beyond the Margins isn't just this newsletter—it’s an events series, a community, and a movement building toward something bigger.

Starting now and ramping up through 2027, Beyond the Margins includes free monthly virtual power hours on business topics (a little bit of business know-how + a whole lot of mutual brainstorming, inspiration, and support), in-person gatherings in Chicago 4-6 times per year for author-entrepreneurs who want to connect with peers also doing the work, and annual signature events that celebrate and elevate the business side of being an author.

Why Chicago? Because this city has always been a hub for independent publishers, literary innovation, and writers who refuse to choose between artistic integrity and making a living. Beyond the Margins is building the infrastructure to support that—locally and beyond.
